Rawdon St. Peter's C of E Primary School

Unlocking every child's potential

Meet The Governors

Peter Marsh (Chair, Attendance, Complaints & SEND Governor)

Having spent my entire career in the teaching profession, including 14 years in Headship I am currently a semi-retired independent Education Consultant and wear many hats including that of being an Associate School Improvement Advisor with the Leeds’ Authority. My hope is that these experiences can in some small part support the hard work and dedication of what is already recognised as a successful school. My wife and I have lived in Rawdon and attended St Peter’s Church for over 30 years. Our only son also lives in Rawdon. I enjoy keeping relatively fit and still enjoy the odd round of golf. Sadly for my non-sport loving other half, I enjoy watching any sport that involves a ball (and of any shape!) Also a long-suffering supporter of both Birmingham City and the Bradford Bulls.

Angie Hulley (Pupil Voice & School Council Governor & PSHE/RSE link)

I have worked in academic research, taught at Leeds University and in Primary schools during my career. Latterly, I was employed as a specialist reading teacher in Bramley and have recently retired. We have lived in Rawdon over 20 years and our two children both enjoyed their primary education at RSP and went on to Benton Park, where I have also been a governor. For the last year I have been volunteering at RSP, mostly by listening to children when they are practising reading. I hope to work with and support the fantastic team of staff and pupils at RSP in their aim to ‘Unlock every child’s potential’.

In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors, especially when cycling and running with friends and family and I’m going to classes in an attempt to improve my French!

Robert Mirfield (Pupil Premium Governor)

My degree was in Modern Languages but my working career was spent in Personnel and Training, a large percentage being targeted on helping unemployed young people and adults get back into work, particularly through Job Guarantee.

I have lived in Horsforth for more than 30 years and have been a member of the Rotary Club of Aireborough since 1990. I was also Chair of Governors at Benton Park School where our children were educated.

I have been a volunteer reader in Oak Class for the past few years too.

Brian Kendrick (Health and Safety Governor)

I am the co-opted governor for Health and Safety. I am 67 and retired from Bradford College where I was H & S manager from 2002. Before that I filled the same role for Wakefield College for 12 years. I live in Calverley and am married with one son. I am a keen gardener and tackle any DIY project with more enthusiasm than skill.

School Representatives

Mrs Lynette Clapham            Headteacher, joined RSP in 2022

Mrs Harjinder Sangha       Teacher, joined RSP in 2010

Mrs Nicola Millington       Business Manager (Training co-ordinator)

Ben McGregor (Vice Chair, Sports Funding & Child Protection Governor and Children Looked After,  Parental Links, Educational visits)

As a former pupil, and a local resident, St. Peters has had an important part of my own education and that of my children, as I am a parent of two children who attend RSP. Since I became a governor, it has been a real pleasure to see up close the hard work all staff put into to school life.  I currently work at Bingley Grammar School as Director of Faculty for Physical Education. Recently I have been lucky enough to work in a school in Nairobi, Kenya coaching leadership skills through rugby.  Most of my free time is spent with my family, however, my hobbies revolve around sport.  Although my playing days are over I still enjoy running and playing golf also I am massive Bradford City fan.

Rev Mark Smith (Chair of Church Links)

I am the vicar of Rawdon St Peter's Church and also Minister among the deaf community in West Yorkshire and the Dales. I have ministered in a number of parishes and also worked in wider roles offering training, consultation, education support to churches across Yorkshire and the North East and nationally. I have been a governor previously at Derby School for Deaf Children.

I am married to Anna, have four adult children and four grandchildren. I have a variety of outside interests, including cooking, gardening and playing the guitar, however, I also have a passion for paragliding, conjuring and fire eating!

I am happy to be a governor at RSP. I hope to play my part building bridges between school, community and church, making sure our children get a broad and rigorous education across a wide syllabus, that nurtures them in a positive environment that respects Christian values.

 Bev Anderton

Having spent nearly 40 years working as a Dental Surgeon in a busy family practice in Leeds, I retired at the end of 2019 and am delighted to have been appointed as a Foundation Governor at Rawdon St Peter’s.

As well as both my children having attended RSP in the 1990s, I was actively involved in the school PTA and helped set-up the Take 5 after school club.

Primary schools are an important part of the village community and I am looking forward to playing my part in helping the school build further on its successful achievements.
