Unlocking every child's potential

CW 4th May 2020

This is our special time together

Let us light the candle

If you look out into your garden or around and about on your daily walk, you will see signs of new growth everywhere. This seems like the perfect time to remind ourselves of the Parable of the Sower - the Bible story that reflects our vision statement at RSP.

Please watch the video opposite.

In the story we learn how we all need nurturing and that we will have difficulties, but we can overcome them.

Time for reflection

Draw a picture of a flower, a plant, a seed - or use a plant or flower you have planted yourself. Or draw a flower with empty petals or an empty field - see the pictures opposite.

Then each day this week, remain silent for a moment as you look at your picture or plant. Think about the things that are worrying you and if you want, tell them to God.

Think about the birds that steal your early seedlings, those ideas that never quite get started - what is stopping you?

Think about the thorns that intimidate you - how can you get past the fear of  something new or scary?

Think about the stony ground - the projects you have started but you got waylaid or distracted and didn't finish them - how can you kick start yourself?

Then finally, think about the people around you who are nurturing your potential - ask them for help and help someone else if you can.

If you have drawn a flower, fill each petal with something you have done to overcome the birds, the stony ground or the thorns. If you have drawn a field, fill the field with all the things you have accomplished, despite any difficulties. See how strong you are!

If you wish, say a prayer.

Dear God,
Help me pay close attention to myself so that I can grow as a person.

Help me to persevere in all things and not become discouraged by the world,

Instead help me push through the trials and tribulations

Help me to remain courageous and strong

Because You are always with me and will never leave me.

Amen

Below is one of our favourite hymns for you to join in with.  Click opposite to play the music.

Be bold, be strong

Be bold, be strong, for the Lord, your God, is with you.                                                                                             Be bold, be strong, for the Lord, your God, is with you.                                                                                                 I am not afraid, I am not dismayed,                                                                                                                                   Because I’m walking in faith and victory, come on and walk in faith and victory,                                     For the Lord, your God, is with you.          X2
