Rawdon St. Peter's C of E Primary School

Unlocking every child's potential

Healthy Schools

Rawdon St Peter's has already been awarded the Advanced Healthy Schools status and the National Standard. We are now working towards the Enhanced National Standard. This section will include various information about how the school continues to achieve high standards in all aspects of health and well being.

Some of the ways in which we promote this include:

  • Promotion of healthy eating and drinking throughout the school day via access to water bottles, fresh fruit and healthy school lunches
  • Our healthy tuck shop.
  • Caring for emotional health of our children via our whole school approach with PSCE
  • An active School Council to give pupils a 'voice' in school activities
  • 'Wake up Shake Up' to compliment work covered in P.E. lessons, over lunchtimes and after school activities to develop the physical aspect of healthy living
  • Themed Health weeks where we dedicate our teaching and learning to the promotion of living a healthy lifestyle. this is complemented by visitors to school providing a wider curriculum
  • An active Health and Wellbeing team who look at ways they can improve the school
  • Weekly Circle Time sessions whereby each child has the opportunity to put forward his or her point of view and to know that they will be listened to respectfully by other children
  • A buddy bench where children can sit if they have no one to play with. Someone will soon see them and ask them if they would like to join in their games
  • Gardening, environment and wildlife clubs where children learn about animals and birds, growing their own vegetables and also how to make compost
  • An active Learning Mentor who has an open door policy for both parents and children
  • An Anti-bullying charter in all classrooms, signed by staff and children
