Unlocking every child's potential

CW 6th April 2020 (Easter Week)

This is our special time together

Let us light the candle

It can be easy to think of this time as a dark time in our lives. Easter reminds us that light can come from darkness.  This week we are going to look at the Easter story and think about why Jesus called himself 'The light of the world'.

Please watch the video opposite.

In the story we remember how Jesus died upon the cross but rose again on Easter Sunday.

Time for reflection

Draw a picture of a candle, or light a candle.

Then each day this week, remain silent for a moment as you look at your candle flickering, (or your picture of a candle) bringing light into the room.

Think about Jesus’ words - ‘I am the light of the world’. Jesus also once said, ‘You are the light of the world’. How do you think you can be a light in the world at this time?

If you wish, say a prayer.

Dear God,
Thank you for light and celebrations.
Please help us to be lights in the world.
Please help me to do what is good and right.

We thank you Father for sending Jesus to die for us.

And we thank you that Jesus didn’t stay dead but rose again, showing us that new life can come from a dark situation.

Amen

Below is one of our favourite hymns for you to join in with.  Click opposite to play the music.

Shine Jesus Shine

Lord, the light of your love is shining, in the midst of the darkness, shining,
Jesus, Light of the World, shine upon us, set us free by the truth you now bring us,
shine on me, shine on me.

Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father's glory,
blaze, Spirit, blaze set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy;
send forth your word, Lord, and let there be light!

Lord, I come to your awesome presence, from the shadows into your radiance;
by the blood I may enter your brightness, search me, try me, consume all my darkness.
Shine on me, shine on me.

Shine, Jesus, shine fill this land with the Father's glory,
blaze, Spirit, blaze set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy;
send forth your word, Lord, and let there be light!

As we gaze on your kingly brightness, so our faces display your likeness,
ever changing from glory to glory, mirrored here, may our lives tell your story.
Shine on me, shine on me.

Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father's glory,
blaze, Spirit, blaze set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy;
send forth your word, Lord, and let there be light!
