Rawdon St. Peter's C of E Primary School

Unlocking every child's potential

W/C 1st June 2020

This is our special time together           :           Let us light the candle

This week's theme is COURAGE.

This week, some of our RSP family will return to school. They and their families might be worried about the big change to their daily routines. Some of you might have an older brother or sister returning as you stay at home. We all might need a little courage this week. Here is a quote which explains what courage can mean for us.

This week you could make your own lion - something to look at when you feel too small or too scared.

See opposite for some ideas. Click here if you would like the outline of a lion to print out and colour - maybe give him rainbow colours!

This week's Bible story is about Joshua, one of Moses' followers. The story tells of Joshua and his fellow spies going into Canaan (The Promised Land) to find out whether the place was suitable for the people of Moses to live there. This is a story about trust, as well as fear in the face of something new.

Watch the story by clicking on the first video opposite.

It is ok to feel worried or anxious about things. Many Christians believe that God promises to help, guide, strengthen and fill them with courage, just as he did with Joshua. I wonder if you need some courage to face your fears like he did?

Time for reflection

Watch the video opposite of the Lewisham NHS Choir.

This week, as you reflect each day, look at the lion you have made.

Think about how strong you are inside, even if you don't feel it.

Think about how you can find your inner 'roar' and use it to help you through.

You might like to tell God about what you are scared of.

If you wish, say a prayer asking God to help you.

Dear God,
You know that I often feel frightened at the moment.

Frightened about what will happen to me, to those I love and to our school community.

But I know that you have been with me.

I know that you will be with us today and I know that you will be with me in the future.

Give me courage to do the big things and the little things,

Give me courage to do the the difficult things that will make a difference to someone else.

Amen

Let us go out of this Collective Worship with kind and positive thoughts.

We will be the best that we can be.
